Biomedical science combines the fields of biology and medicine in order to focus on the. Course materials will be handouts/lecture slides provided by each instructor, and selected research papers from the literature. And biomedical science majors want to make sure it stays that way. The approach will combine didactic presentation with a combination of informal discussion of important scientific literature. The overall goal of this course is to introduce students to the subject of advanced pharmacology and then to focus on recent advances in methodologies used to develop new therapeutics with an emphasis on experimental approaches. Translational medicine aims to use pharmacological discoveries to develop novel therapies in treatment of human disease. ![]() Pharmacology is the study of biochemical and physiological processes mediated through exogenous or endogenous substances that interact with living systems. This is a Cluster-based Advanced Elective Course offered by the Organ Systems and Translational Medicine Cluster.
